I was curious about the number of people who could benefit from this program, so I did the math. The number of deals at the $4500 (the maximum amount) allowance would mean that nationwide only 222,222 individuals would be signing on the dotted line. That breaks down to only 4,444 deals per state. If you live in a heavily populated state the chances are not very good for benefiting from this program unless you were one of the first ones at your local dealership in the first day or two. But don't despair, word is that there will be a $2 billion infusion into the program so more of your tax dollars can go to help your neighbors buy new $45,000 cars, which they probably can't afford or they wouldn't have been driving around in a clunker. Might be a good time to go into the repo business.Just let me have my $1 million (mention below) and I promise to going shopping in a big way and spread the wealth.
UPDATE
Earlier today, Congress approved the additional $2 billion. Fire up yer hoop-dee or the garbage-can green grocery getter and run on down to get in line.

Love the garbage can green line. that was 98 was it not ?
Someone I knew used that expression in about 1984. I don't know where it originated. At first, I was sort of offended even though I never owned a gree wagon. Then it just seemed funny to me, but I don't know why.
Seems to me every few years there are new green wagons made by some car company.
