All Saints Hallow Eve

Want to take a stab at what the below paragraph is talking about?

"People with poor self-images always want to inflate the power and evilness of their real or imagined opponents. After all, if there’s a Gigantic Global Satanic Conspiracy to defeat the Forces of Goodness, the people believing in it can think of themselves as “fighting on the side of the angels,” instead of as the pathetic, demon-obsessed, xenophobes that they really are."

The above paragraph was taken from a neopagan website arguing that that Christians are fear mongering regarding harmless Halloween celebrations. The first thing to note is the ad hominem attack on Christians. The second is the downplaying of the power of the evil of Satan and his minions. If I was Satan or one the other fallen angels, I would be thrilled with this sort of website, and those who are willing to celebrate demons, witches, and a culture of death. It does exactly what Satan wants--it dismisses Christians as pathetic, fear-filled nutjobs with low self-esteem who are afraid of those who are not just like them. BUNK. Christians are not afraid of new world order pagans. Rather, Christians abhor (for the neopagans, that means to loath or detest)their behavior and worshipping anything other than Almighty God, the Creator.

Satan and demons are very real as attested in Ephesians 6:12 which says:
"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."

One cannot believe in angels and not believe in demons who are fallen angels. Satan is a fallen angel. He will do whatever it takes, including using Halloween, as means to dissuade we humans away from accepting the salvation Jesus Christ paid for on the cross. Remember, Satan even tried to persuade Jesus into worshipping him in the desert. Do you really think he (or his followers) will not try to convince you into doing the same thing?

Time to Eat the Dog

Say what?!?

"New Zealand authors Robert and Brenda Vale's book, "Time to Eat the Dog: The Real Guide to Sustainable Living" is an exhaustive analysis of the environmental impact of common pets such as cats and dogs. The authors studied the carbon emissions created by pets, including the ingredients in their food and the land required to grow it. And the results don't bode well for Fido, who compares poorly to that SUV."

Really?

"Owning a dog really is quite an extravagance, mainly because of the carbon footprint of meat," Vale told New Scientist magazine. So what's the "eco-pawprint" of your pet?

German shepherds: 1.1 hectares, compared with 0.41ha for a large SUV

Cats: 0.15ha (slightly less than a Volkswagen Golf).

Hamsters: 0.014ha (two of them equate to a medium-sized plasma TV).

Goldfish: 0.00034ha (an eco-finprint equal to two cellphones).

For more information, read the full article on New Scientist."

So it's not just beef and dairy cattle causing the problems.... go figure!

90% of Wild Game Killed

This freak hailstorm killed:
90% of pheasants
80% of hares
100s of deer
in Salzburg province, Austria. The hailstones were the size of tennis balls.

Revelation 16:21 tell us that 100 pound hailstones are going to rain down from heaven in the end days just before the second coming of Christ. I can't really imagine the damage that hailstones of that size can do if tennis ball-sized hail can cause the the devastation reported in Salzburg.

Science to "stop age clock at 50"

Woohoo....maybe...

See the article here.

The short of it is that UK scientists believe that one day soon they will be able to send us to the "body shop" (my term) for repairs that will enable us to live to 100 in good health. The bad thing is that the article quotes Professor Christina Doyle as saying that it will take 30-50 years to create the full technology.

Talk about getting my hopes up and deflating them....

A Keeper

Their marriage was good, their dreams focused.
Their best friends lived barely a wave away.
I can see them now,
Dad in trousers, work shirt and a hat;
and Mom in a house dress;
lawn mower in one hand,
and dish-towel in the other.
It was the time for fixing things:
a curtain rod, the kitchen radio, screen door,

the clothesline, the hem in a dress.
Things we keep.

It was a way of life, and sometimes it made me crazy.
All that re-fixing, re-heating leftovers, renewing;
I wanted just once to be wasteful.
Waste meant affluence.
Throwing things away meant you
knew there'd always be more.
But when my mother died, and I was standing in that
clear morning light in the warmth of
the sun at the cemetery,
I was struck with the pain of learning that
sometimes there isn't any more.
Sometimes, what we care about most gets all used up and goes away..

never to return.

So... While we have it, it's best we love it..
And care for it... And fix it when it's broken...
This is true:
For marriage...
And old cars...
And children with bad report cards.
Dogs and cats with bad hips...
And aging parents...
And grandparents.
We keep them because they are worth it,
because we are worth it.

Some things we keep,
like a best friend that moved away
or a classmate we grew up with.
There are just some things that make life important,
like people we know who are special...
And so, we keep them close!

Typhoons, Earthquakes, Oh My

I find the US news sources as seriously derelict in reporting world events of substantial note.

Did anyone report that in the past 7 days there were 6 earthquakes registering 6.0 and above and that the Philippines were hit by 2 super typhoons (Parma and Melor) 8 days apart as well as one of the earthquakes measuring 6.6?

These two typhoons are still hovering in the South China Sea and have the potential, based on conditions, to build force and could create further havoc for Singapore, Tokyo, Taiwan, or other nearby areas. In fact typhoon Melor is sucking Parma back into the Philippines currently.

HillaryCare '98

I was listening to an 1998 taping of something for another reason, but this tape happened to mention the reason our current Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gave up working on nationalized health care back in 1998 When she was the First Lady. It seems that she saw that Congress was not likely going to pass her health care reforms at the same time Yassar Arafat announced he would be establishing a Palestinian State with Jerusalem as it capital in the West Bank of Israel. Hillary gave up then shifted her focus to assist Arafat and the Palestinian Authority by acting as a point man behind the scenes using her access to both Congress and world leaders as provided by President Bill Clinton.

This information is fascinating in light of the current administration position Hillary now holds as Secretary of State. Is it possible that like most (not all) liberals that the Clintons are anti-Jewish? Just something to think about as we see how the entire world has now aligned itself against Israel as prophesied in the Bible when speaking of end-times events.

ADDITION:
In another tape I was listening to, the number 1 cause of infant death in 1989 was homicide. The immediate assumption is that it must be relating to abortion, but it was not. It was due to the killing of innocents because of the restrictions on children in China, the over-population and poverty in India, and drug-related deaths in the progressive, industrialized nations. If this information is correct, I hate to think what it may be 20 years later. How sad.
